For High Holidays, the Fabrangen Cheder Community holds Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur services. These services, which always include lots of music and singing, are produced by community members. In recent years High Holidays have been held in the warm, light sanctuary of the Seekers' Church in Takoma Park.
Cheder’s sukkat celebrations include erecting and decorating a sukkah, waving the lulav, and, of course, singing and eating. At Tu b’Shvat we sample fruits and nuts and incorporate environmental themes into classes. Purim celebrations range from creating a Purim Carnival to putting on a Purim schpiel to exchanging shalach mones (treats). Observance of Passover has taken the form of a community-wide seder, or a multi-cultural charoset tasting.
