CHEDER
This is how it works:

Most Sundays we gather at 9 am and have a quick nosh.  Children go off to their first class (culture or Hebrew) while the adults who are not teaching gather for adult discussion.   We all come back together with the children at about 10:30 for a half an hour of singing and reviewing what the classes have been doing.  The children then go to second class (Hebrew or culture) while some adults mingle, some jam on guitars, and some go for a run or go the Takoma Farmers Market. Adult discussion might be a social justice topic like the Syrian refugee crisis, a Jewish text of interest,  ethics,  Jewish sports heroes, and so on.  Oftentimes we are joined by past members of Cheder, the so-called "Greater Cheder."

We are a parent-led co-operative group.  This is an all-volunteer effort.  Everyone does something and usually has fun doing it.  We need people willing to teach our children, manage our treasury, play guitar and lead songs for the community, coordinate adult discussion time, work on the website, and much more.  We're pretty sure you have something to offer.
